Section 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED BY THE COUNTY
COUNCIL OF HOWARD COUNTY, MARYLAND, That this Act shall
take effect sixty (60) days after its enactment.
This Bill, having been approved by the Executive and returned to the
Council, stands enacted on May 11, 1970.

Council Bill No. 15
An Act to add new Sections 14.410 and 14.411 to Title 14 of the
Howard County Code, "Inspections, Licenses and Permits," subtitle
"Taxicabs," establishing the maximum fares chargeable by taxicabs
licensed in Howard County and to establish the maximum number of
passengers in a taxicab at any one time.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the County Council of Howard County,
Maryland, That Sections 14.410 and 14.411 be and the same are hereby
added to Title 14 of the Howard County Code, "Inspections, Licenses and
Permits," subtitle, "Taxicabs," to read as follows:
14.410—Schedule of Rates
Each taxicab for which a permit shall have been issued shall be entitled
to collect fifty cents (50 cents) for the first mile or fraction thereof when
transporting passengers and ten cents (10 cents) for each additional one-
fourth mile or fraction thereof. In addition, the operator shall be entitled
to collect ten cents (10 cents) for each suitcase, shopping bag, large
package, or item of luggage in excess of one piece and fifty cents (50 cents)
for each foot locker or trunk. When a taxicab is required to operate from
its regular stand in response to telephone calls, an additional charge of
ten cents (10 cents) per mile or fraction thereof may be made for such
extra mileage after the first mile from the taxi stand to the location where
the passengers are first met.
14.411—Maximum Number of Passengers
The maximum number of passengers at any one time in any taxicab
for which a permit shall have been issued shall be four.
