1970, CHAPTER 576—Compensation of Members of
General Assembly

State Administrative Board of Election Laws
Annapolis, Maryland

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 23-11 of Article 33 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland, the State Administrative Board of
Election Laws does hereby certify that at the General Election held
in the State of Maryland on November 3, 1970, an Act known as
Chapter 576 of the Acts of 1970 was submitted to the voters of the
State of Maryland under the provisions of Article XIV of the Consti-
tution of the State of Maryland, said Act being as follows:

AN ACT to withdraw and repeal Chapter 788 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of 1969 and to propose amendments to cer-
tain sections of the Constitution of Maryland, by repealing and
re-enacting Sections 1, 3, and 13 of Article II, title "Executive
Department," and Sections 14, 15, 27 and 52(10) of Article III,
title "Legislative Department," providing for the convening of
the General Assembly, changing the maximum duration of reg-
ular sessions of the General Assembly, providing for a possible
extension thereof, creating a General Assembly Compensation
Commission to determine the compensation and retirement
allowances of members of the General Assembly, making certain
compensating changes with respect to the time for inaugurat-
ing the Governor, the time for submitting the Governor's bill
THE TIME FOR FINALLY ACTING UPON THE BUDGET
BILL, and the time for the introduction of bills into the General
Assembly, enacting certain procedural provisions and provid-
ing for the duties of certain State officers in relation thereto,
and providing for the submission of this amendment to the
qualified voters of the State of Maryland for their adoption
or rejection.

and it is hereby certified that at said election, 311,062 votes
were cast for the adoption of said Chapter 576 and 209,811 votes were
cast against the adoption of said Chapter 576, the said Chapter 576
of the Acts of 1970 has therefore been ratified by the qualified voters
of the State of Maryland.

Given Under My Hand and the Seal of the State Administra-
tive Board of Election Laws of the State of Maryland,
Done at the City of Annapolis, this 30th day of
November, in the Year of Our Lord, One Thousand,
Nine Hundred and Seventy.
