1970, CHAPTER 558—Religious Readings
State Administrative Board of Election Laws
Annapolis, Maryland
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 23-11 of Article 33 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland, the State Administrative Board of
Election Laws does hereby certify that at the General Election held
in the State of Maryland on November 3, 1970, an Act known as
Chapter 558 of the Acts of 1970 was submitted to the voters of the
State of Maryland under the provisions of Article XIV of the Con-
stitution of the State of Maryland said Act being as follows:
AN ACT to propose an amendment to Article 36 of the Consti-
tution of Maryland, title "Declaration of Rights," providing
for religious freedom and permitting religious readings or
prayer and reference to a Supreme Being in certain instances,
and providing for the submission of this amendment to the
qualified voters of the State of Maryland for their adoption
or rejection.
AND it is hereby certified that at said election, 409,050 votes
were cast for the adoption of said Chapter 558 and 152,706 votes
were cast against the adoption of said Chapter 558, the said Chapter
558 of the Acts of 1970 has therefore been ratified by the qualified
voters of the State of Maryland.

tive Board of Election Laws of the State of Maryland,
Done at the City of Annapolis, this 30th day of
November, in the Year of Our Lord, One Thousand,
Nine Hundred and Seventy.
