Whereas, The Ninth Annual Annapolis Arts Festival is scheduled
to take place June 18 to 20 along the waterfront of Annapolis, Mary-
land; and

Whereas, Decorated tents will be set up on the city dock for per-
formances, displays and demonstrations of many of the arts for both
young people and adults; and

Whereas, The annual Youth Symphony Orchestra workshop will
bring to Annapolis more than 100 musically-talented young people
from throughout Maryland who will present a concert at the Festival;
and

Whereas, The continuous performances and exhibits during the
three-day Festival will demonstrate the versatility of artistically
talented citizens from all areas of the State; and

Whereas, This annual celebration of the arts, planned by hundreds
of volunteers from the Annapolis area, is a tribute to the cultural
vitality of the State; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That a request
be submitted to the Governor to declare the week of June 13 to 20,
1971, as "Fine Arts Week" and that the Maryland Division of Tour-
ism give support to this event; and, be it further

Resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Governor
and to the Division of Tourism.

(House Joint Resolution 47)

House Joint Resolution requesting the Department of Forests and
Parks to make the camping facilities of the Maryland parks system
available to the Maryland Units of the Boy Scouts of America on a
year-round basis.

Whereas, The Boy Scouts of America are rendering valuable public
service in conservation and other civic activities in the State of
Maryland; and

Whereas, The Scouting program is directed to outdoor experience
designed to teach self-reliance, the brotherhood of man and desirable
traits of character; and

Whereas, The adventures of camping and hiking are an essential
part of the Scouting program; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Di-
rector of the Department of Forests and Parks be requested to make
