No. 25
(House Joint Resolution 10)
House Joint Resolution requesting the Governor of Maryland
to extend the life of the Governor's Commission on Environmental
Education from June 30, 1971 to January 1, 1972.
Whereas, The rapidly growing population of Maryland places
heavy and conflicting demands on her environment and resources,
reduces open space while creating a need for it, pollutes air and water
when fresh air and clean water are increasingly essential, and places
severe pressures on wildlife, on land and aquatic resources, on water-
front areas, and on the quality of the human environment; and
Whereas, Appropriate education is essential for citizens to under-
stand the resources of Maryland, to support responsible management
of the human environment, and to insist on stewardship which will
insure the best possible quality of environment for themselves and
future citizens of the State; and
Whereas, The fifteen-member Governor's Commission on Environ-

to fulfill these goals, but will be required to continue its work beyond
June 30, 1971; and
Whereas, In recognition of the contribution already made by the
Commission, and in response to the Commission's interim report sub-
mitted to the Governor on December 1,1970, Governor Marvin Mandel
extended the life of this Commission from December 1, 1970 to June
30, 1971; now, therefore, be it
