central bail bond clerk for the Circuit Court and District Court for
Montgomery County, defining the duties, powers, compensation,
tenure, and the appointment of the central bail bond clerk and
directing the bail bond clerk to keep an index of all bonds and
enter on all writs and process directed to said clerk the status of
said bonds, and providing generally for bail bonds and the condi-
tions thereof in criminal and motor vehicle cases in the Circuit
Court and District Court for Montgomery County, and providing
generally for bail bonds in said county.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 25½ of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1970 Cumulative Supplement), title "Justices of the Peace," subtitle
"Criminal Jurisdiction," be and it is hereby repealed.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That Sections 4-8, 4-9, and
4-10 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Montgomery County (1965
Edition, being Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land), title "Montgomery County," subtitle "Bail Bonds," be and
they are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That Section 4-9A of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Montgomery County (1965 Edition, being
Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title
"Montgomery County," subtitle "Bail Bonds," as enacted by Chapter
349 of the Acts of 1966, be and it is hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. And be it further enacted, That new Sections 4-8, 4-9,
4-9A, 4-9B, 4-10, 4-10A, 4-10B, and 4-10C be and they are hereby
added to the Code of Public Local Laws of Montgomery County
(1965 Edition, being Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland), in lieu of and to stand in place of the sections of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Montgomery County repealed by Sec-
tions 2 and 3 of this Act, to read as follows:

(a)   The clerk of the Circuit Court for Montgomery County shall
appoint a clerk to serve as central bail bond clerk for the Circuit
Court and District Court for Montgomery County. The central bail
bond clerk shall serve at the pleasure of the clerk of the Circuit
Court of Montgomery County and shall be paid such compensation
as provided for in said clerk's budget. The duties of the central bail
bond clerk shall include those set forth in this chapter, and such
additional duties as assigned by the clerk of the Circuit Court or by
the administrative judges of the said courts. THE BAIL BOND
CLERK SHALL GIVE BOND FOR THE FAITHFUL PERFORM-
ANCE OF HIS DUTIES IN THE AMOUNT OF $100,000.

(b)   The central bail bond clerk shall maintain all bond agree-
ments and shall be responsible for the funds deposited with the
court attendant to such bond agreements. Bail bond agreements and
depository funds attendant thereto shall be transmitted to the central
bail bond clerk by the judges and clerks of the Montgomery County
Circuit Courts and judges, clerks, and Commissioners of the Mont-
gomery County People's DISTRICT Courts. The central bail bond
clerk shall keep separate indexes and record books; one for the bonds
