In the event an employee's rank is changed during the year, he
shall be entitled to the higher of the two applicable yearly overtime
maximums for the duration of the year. Overtime compensation
shall not be paid to law-enforcement employees taking basic training
at the Police Academy, or to any law-enforcement employee attend-
ing school or taking other training the length of which course is
more than thirty (30) days. Overtime payments shall not be taken
into consideration for retirement or pension purposes.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.

(Senate Bill 59)
AN ACT to add new Section 12-416 to Article 66? of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1970 Replacement Volume), title "Ve-
hicle Laws," subtitle "Equipment of Vehicles," subheading "Other
Equipment," to follow immediately after Section 12-415 thereof,
creating a manufacturer's warranty as to standards of safety
concerning the ability to sustain shock in private passenger auto-
mobiles and providing, in lieu of the warranty, certification by the
manufacturer of compliance with the energy absorption standards
provided.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 12-416 be and it is hereby added to Article 66?
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970 Replacement Volume),
title "Vehicle Laws," subtitle "Equipment of Vehicles," subheading
"Other Equipment," to follow immediately after Section 12-415
thereof, and to read as follows:
