Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect

CHAPTER 393
(House Bill 1494)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 25B of
Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replacement
Volume), title "Justices of the Peace," subtitle "Criminal Juris-
diction," to authorize the judges of the People's Court of Prince
George's County to order the Court Clerk to expunge from the
court's records names of individuals, arrested on warrants initiated
not by law enforcement officials, who were not prosecuted for the
charge upon which the arrest warrant was issued.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 25B of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1968 Replacement Volume), title "Justices of the Peace," subtitle
"Criminal Jurisdiction," be and it is hereby repealed and re-en-
acted, with amendments, and to read as follows:
25B.
The judges of the People's Court of Prince George's County shall
have criminal jurisdiction in all cases hereinbefore conferred upon
trial magistrates for Prince George's County in this subtitle; and in
Prince George's County the office of trial magistrate shall hereafter
be designated as judge of the People's Court. The judges of the
Peoples Court of Prince George's County shall have the power and
authority to order the Clerk of the People's Court of Prince George's
County to expunge from the Court's records the names of indi-
viduals who were arrested on warrants not initiated by law en-
forcement officials and who were not prosecuted for the charge
upon which the arrest warrant was issued.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.
