Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 76 of the Code of Public Local Laws of St. Mary's County
(1965 Edition being Article 19 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland), title "St. Mary's County," subtitle "Fire Companies," be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments to read
as follows:
76.
The County Commissioners are authorized to pay annually from
genera] county funds to each active volunteer fire company in St.
Mary's County a sum not [exceeding] less than $5,000.00 per com-
pany, provided, however, that no part of said sum shall be dis-
tributed to any fire company to be formed in the future which has
not been approved by the St. Mary's County Fire Board.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

CHAPTER 382
(House Bill 1399)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 155(n)
of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Supple-
ment), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle "Boards of License
Commissioners," to provide reimbursement for expenses to the
chairman and members of the County Council of Howard County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 155(n) of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1969 Supplement), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle
"Boards of License Commissioners," be and is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

(n) In Howard County, the chairman shall receive three hun-
dred dollars ($300.00), and each of the other members of the County
Council shall receive, [in addition to their present salaries,] the
sum of two hundred dollars ($200.00) per annum as reimbursement
for expenses incurred for their services in acting as members of
the board of license commissioners.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of this
Act shall not be construed to extend or apply to the Chairman or
members of the County Council of Howard County in office on the
effective date of this act, but the provisions of this Act shall take
effect with the next term of office.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.
