The presiding officer shall be designated as the president, but may
continue to adopt the title of chairman for any purpose for which
the use of such title is appropriate. County Commissioners shall take
office on the first Tuesday of December following their election.
Until December 4, 1962, but not thereafter, in addition to the annual
salary authorized by this section, the presiding officer shall receive
one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) and each of the other four commis-
sioners shall receive five hundred dollars ($500.00); and, until
December 4, 1962, they shall be entitled to such allowances or com-
pensation for expenses incident to their respective duties as the
board of county commissioners of said county shall provide by reso-
lution, or resolutions, for services to be performed by them, or any
one of them, respectively, for attending additional or special meet-
ings, conferences or official functions and performing additional or
special duties or departmental or administrative supervision assign-
ments or liaison supervision for the county with bi-county agencies
or other governmental agencies or organizations and any other spe-
cial functions, in connection with their official duties or ex officio
duties, as may be provided in such resolution or resolutions; Pro-
vided that such resolution, or resolutions, shall not provide, and such
commissioner shall not receive, in the aggregate annually, for such
expense allowance or compensation, an amount greater than twenty-
five hundred dollars ($2,500.00) for such presiding officer or an
amount greater than two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) for any one
of the other commissioners; and the provisions herein for expense
allowances or additional compensation shall be of no effect from and
after December 4, 1962. [The County Commissioners may by resolu-
tion appoint an administrative assistant to assist the presiding officer
in the supervision of the county administration at such compensation
as the commissioners may determine, to perform such duties as may
be assigned by the presiding officer or the board by special resolu-
tion.] The County Commissioners may by resolution appoint a Chief
Administrative Officer to assist the presiding officer in the super-
vision of the County administration at such compensation as the
Commissioners may determine, to perform such duties as may be
assigned by the presiding officer or the Board by special resolution.
Such duties shall include, but not be limited to supervision over the
Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners, the Finance Officer,
the Personnel Officer, and the Data Processing Officer.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

(House Bill 1338)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 187 of
Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replace-
ment Volume) title "Motor Vehicles," subtitle "Operation of Vehi-
cles Upon Highways," to authorize the Board of County Commis-
sioners to regulate parking on certain roads and fire lanes in Prince
George's County and to impound cars in violation of said parking
regulations.
