this section shall, upon conviction, be fined not less than twenty-five
dollars ($25.00) nor more than one hundred dollars ($100.00), to
be recovered as other fines are recovered [.], or not more than
thirty days or both.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

CHAPTER 74
(House Bill 724)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 38 and
39 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Charles County (1969
Edition, being Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland), title "Charles County," subtitle "County Commis-
sioners," to delete payment of funds from monies received for dog
licenses in Charles County to the County Demonstrator and County
Extension Service; and to delete the revenue fund of one thousand
dollars ($1,000.00) or payment of losses due to dogs, and thereby
not necessitating the transfer of monies received from the sale
of dog licenses to the general fund of the county until the end of
the fiscal year.

Section 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 38 and 39 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Charles
County (1969 Edition, being Article 9 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Charles County," subtitle "County Com-
missioners," be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

38.

The County Commissioners of Charles County are hereby author-
ized to use any surplus funds accruing from the sale of dog licenses
in said county [after paying] to pay damages for any losses to the
owners of poultry, sheep or other domestic animals, in accordance
with the provisions of the law imposing said licenses, [in providing
additional compensation for the County Demonstrator of said county,
said payments not to exceed seven hundred and fifty ($750) dollars
for the first year after June 1, 1927, or five hundred ($500) dollars
for any subsequent year; provided, however, that no payments shall
be made for said purpose until after the payments for certain schools
have been made as provided for by law.]

39.

[The Treasurer of Charles County be and he is hereby authorized
and directed, after establishing a reserve fund of one thousand
dollars ($1,000.00) for the payment of losses due to dogs, and five
hundred dollars ($500.00) as additional funds for the County Exten-
sion Service, to transfer the balance of any money now in his hands
received from dog licenses to the general funds of said County.]
At the end of each fiscal year, the [said County] Treasurer of
