Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 248A be and it is hereby added to Article 27
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replacement Volume),
title "Crimes and Punishments," subtitle "Crimes and Punishments,"
subheading "Gaming," to follow immediately after Section 248 there-
of, and to read as follows:
248A.
(a) Nothing in this subtitle shall be construed to make it un-
lawful for any bona fide fraternal, religious, patriotic, educational
or charitable organization or corporation, or volunteer fire company
located in Carroll County to conduct or operate a game of bingo in
Carroll County for the benefit of charity or in furtherance of the
purposes of the organization, corporation or volunteer fire company.
(b) Any game of bingo conducted or operated under the pro-
visions of this section shall be conducted or operated by the organi-
zation, corporation or volunteer fire company securing the permit
therefor; and the right to conduct or operate the game of bingo
shall not be transferred or assigned to any other person, firm, or
corporation.
(c) The organization, corporation, or volunteer fire company
desiring to conduct or operate a game of bingo under the pro-
visions of this section shall first obtain a permit therefor from
the Board of County Commissioners of Carroll County and shall
pay a fee to be determined by the Board of County Commissioners
to defray the cost of issuing such a permit.
(d) No such bingo game shall award a cash prize in excess of
ten dollars ($10.00) to any player of a bingo game, except that the
award of a "jackpot" in an amount not to exceed three hundred
dollars ($300.00) is allowed when directly connected with the play-
ing of bingo games.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

CHAPTER 297
(Senate Bill 616)
AN ACT to authorize and empower the Mayor and City Council
of Baltimore, a municipal corporation of the State of Maryland,
to acquire for public highway purposes, by gift, purchase, or
condemnation, the fee simple interest or interests therein of any
kind, in and to the property with the improvements thereon,
situate in the 6B Election District of Anne Arundel County,
Maryland, located at the intersection of the south side of Ordnance
Road and the southwest boundary of Baltimore City established
1918, and running southerly and southeasterly to intersect the
north outline of the Baltimore Harbor outer tunnel right of way
binding easterly thereon to intersect the aforesaid southwest
boundary line of Baltimore City, thence westerly to the south
side of Ordnance Road.
