2-6A.
(a) In Allegany County the board of supervisors of elections
shall appoint two clerk-stenographers [, with compensation as fixed
by the Board of County Commissioners]. One of the clerk-stenog-
raphers shall be a member of the political party whose candidate for
Governor received the highest number of votes at the last preceding
gubernatorial election [;] , and the other shall be a member of the
political party whose candidate for Governor received the second
highest number of votes at the last preceding gubernatorial election.
(b) The position of clerk-stenographer created by subsection (a)
of this Section is included in the classified service of Allegany County
with a Title 2 classification, and, in the event that the classified
service or its titles are changed, the clerk-stenographer shall receive
compensation equal to that received by Allegany County employees
performing the same or a comparable type of work, with the same
or a comparable degree of responsibility.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That new Section 35(g) be
and is hereby added to the Code of Public Local Laws of Allegany
County (1963 Edition and 1967 Supplement, being Article 1 of the
Code of Public Laws of Maryland), title "Allegany County," subtitle
"Classification Service," to follow immediately after Section 35(f)
thereof, and to read as follows:

(g) The position of clerk-stenographers created by Section 2-6A
of Article S3 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replacement
Volume and 1969 Supplement) is included in the classified service.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That all persons holding that
position of clerk-stenographers pursuant to Section 2-6A of Article
33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replacement Volume
and 1969 Supplement) on June 1, 1970, and who have held the posi-
tion for the six months immediately preceding that date, shall auto-
matically be a member of the classified service and subject to all
the rights and privileges provided for members of the classified
service.
Sec. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

AN ACT to authorize the Lavale Zoning Board of Allegany County
to contribute in its discretion certain monies of the Lavale Zoning
District to the Lavale Library Committee.
