(House Bill 1387)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 189 of
Article 15 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Kent County (1968
Edition, being Article 15 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland), title "Kent County," subtitle "County Commission-
ers," to increase the salaries of the County Commissioners of
Kent County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 189 of Article 15 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Kent County (1968 Edition, being Article 15 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland), title "Kent County," subtitle "County Com-
missioners," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

189.

Three County Commissioners of Kent County shall be elected at
the General Election to be held on the Tuesday after the first Mon-
day in November, 1946, and every fourth year thereafter for a term
of four (4) years. They shall have all the powers, and perform all
the duties that are now or hereafter may be imposed on them by
law, and they shall each receive a salary of [three thousand six
hundred dollars ($3,600)] five thousand dollars ($5,000) per an-
num and until January 1, 1971, an allowance of one thousand dollars
($1,000) per year for expenses incurred in performance of their
duties as County Commissioners.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of this
Act shall not be construed to extend or apply to the salary of the
County Commissioners of Kent County in office on the effective date
of this Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the salary of
the County Commissioners of Kent County shall take effect at the
beginning of the next following term of office.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

more County Code, 1968, and to make the same evidence of the
portions of Public Local Laws of Baltimore County, Maryland,
purporting to be contained therein.
