than 1970 and who has been in the military service of the State of
Maryland for eight years or more, he shall be paid, if he is then at
least fifty-five years of age or when he becomes fifty-five years of age,
and for the remainder of his life, a pension or salary calculated at
the rate of eight hundred and fifty dollars ($850) for each year of
active military service for the State of Maryland; but in no event
may the total pension or salary exceed thirteen thousand six hundred
dollars ($13,600). Following the decease of the former Adjutant
General, whenever it occurred or occurs, his surviving widow shall
be paid two-thirds of the pension or salary to which the former
Adjutant General was or would have been entitled under this subsec-
tion, if she was married to him for not less than the three years
immediately prior to his death and, in the case of a retired Adjutant
General, not less than the three years immediately prior to his retire-
ment; and the widow shall be paid for the period of her life unless
she remarries, in which event the payments are to cease. ANY
PENSION OR SALARY PAID UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF
THIS SUBSECTION SHALL BE IN ADDITION TO AND SHALL
NOT AFFECT ANY BENEFITS PAID TO THE SAME PERSON
FROM OR BY ANOTHER RETIREMENT SYSTEM OPERATED
BY THIS STATE.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 145 (b),
145(G) and 214 of the Code of Public Local Laws of St. Mary's
County (1965 Edition, being Article 19 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "St. Mary's County," being subtitles
"Recreation and Parks" and "Youth Commission," respectively,
adding two new members to the St. Mary's County Board of Rec-
reation and Parks who shall be members of the St. Mary's County
Youth Commission; PERMITTING THE BOARD TO EMPLOY
VOLUNTARY HELP; transferring all operational activities of
the Youth Commission to the Board of Recreation and Parks; and
matters relating generally thereto.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 145(b), 145(G) and 214 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of St. Mary's County, (1965 Edition, being Article 19 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "St. Mary's County,"
being subtitles "Recreation and Parks," and "Youth Commission,"
respectively, be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

(b) The Board shall consist of [seven] nine members, appointed
by the County Commissioners, of whom one shall be first recom-
mended by the County Board of Education from its membership or
