to remove juvenile court jurisdiction in Montgomery County over
16 to 18 year old traffic offenders except for the offenses of man-
slaughter by automobile, unauthorized use or occupancy of a motor
vehicle, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of
intoxicating liquor or drugs, or tampering with a motor vehicle.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 76 (b) of Article 26 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1966 Replacement Volume), title "Courts", subtitle "Juvenile Causes
in Montgomery County", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

76.

(b) He shall have exclusive jurisdiction over other justices of
the peace or trial magistrates or People's Court judges in proceedings
concerning any child within Montgomery County, who is dependent,
delinquent, neglected or is a minor without proper care or guardian-
ship; and except where the child is under the jurisdiction of another
court, he shall have power to determine the custody of the person
of any child living within the county whose welfare appears to be
endangered, and to determine parental rights in connection with such
proceedings and to order either the father or mother of said child
to pay such sum as will cover in whole or in part the support of
such children after giving the parents a reasonable opportunity to
be heard; provided, however, he shall have no jurisdiction in any
instance in which a child between the ages of 16 and 18 years is
charged with the violation of any provision of Article 66½ of the
Annotated Code, or of any other traffic law or ordinance, other than
manslaughter by automobile, unauthorized use or occupancy of a
motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence
of intoxicating liquor or drugs, or tampering with a motor vehicle.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

CHAPTER 45
(House Bill 318)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 79 of
Article 26, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement
Volume), title "Courts," subtitle "Juvenile Causes in Montgomery
County," to provide that it shall be unlawful for an adult willfully
to contribute to, encourage, or tend to cause by any act or omission
any condition which would bring a child within the provisions of
this subtitle.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 79 of Article 26 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1966 Replacement Volume), title "Courts," subtitle "Juvenile Causes
in Montgomery County," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
