CHAPTER 38
(House Bill 240)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 51(r)
of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replace-
ment Volume), title "County Commissioners," subtitle "County
Treasurer," increasing the salary of the Treasurer of Somerset
County, eliminating his expense allowance, and providing for
the application and effect of these provisions.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 51(r) of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1966 Replacement Volume), title "County Commissioners,"
subtitle "County Treasurer," be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
51.
[(r) The County treasurer of Somerset County shall receive an
annual salary of not less than $4,800 nor more than $5,400 in the
discretion of the County Commissioners. The County treasurer shall
receive annually the sum of $600.00 for expenses.]
(r) The County Treasurer of Somerset County who is in office
on July 1, 1970, shall receive an annual salary of not less than
$4,800.00 or more than $5,4,00.00 in the discretion of the County
Commissioners; and he shall receive annually the sum of $600.00
for expenses. Beginning as of the first day of the term of the
County Treasurer who is elected to that position at the regular elec-
tion in the month of November, 1970, the County Treasurer shall
receive an annual salary of $8,500.00 with no additional sum for
expenses.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect as of July 1, 1970.

(House Bill 257)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 419(g)
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Cecil County (1961 Edition,
being Article 8 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Cecil County," subtitle "Sanitary District," as last amended
by Chapter 696 of the Acts of 1965; providing for the sale by the
county treasurer of Cecil County of any real property where the
owner has failed to pay lien, benefit assessment or charge for
water and sewer services.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 419(g) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Cecil
County (1961 Edition, being Article 8 of the Code of Public Local
