An Act to enact Section 564-4 of Article 23 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Wicomico County (1965 Edition, being Article 23 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), titled "Appropriation—
Wicomico County Humane Society, Inc.", authorizing an appropria-
tion of Seventy-five Hundred Dollars ($7,500.00) for capital expendi-
ture and Six Thousand Dollars ($6,000.00) for current expenses to
the Wicomico County Humane Society, Inc.

Section 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF
WICOMICO COUNTY, MARYLAND, That Section 564-4 of Article 23 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Wicomico County (1965 Edition, being
Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), titled
"Appropriation—Wicomico County Humane Society, Inc." be enacted to
be known as Section 564-4 and to read as follows:

Section 564-4. APPROPRIATION—WICOMICO COUNTY HUMANE
SOCIETY, INC.

THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF WICOMICO COUNTY MARYLAND
IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED TO LEVY THE SUM
OF SEVENTY FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($7,500.00) AND APPRO-
PRIATE THE SAME TO THE WICOMICO COUNTY HUMANE SOCI-
ETY, INC. TO BE USED FOR CAPITAL PURPOSES IN ESTABLISH-
ING AN ANIMAL SHELTER AND THE COUNTY COUNCIL IS
FURTHER AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED TO LEVY THE SUM OF
SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS ($6,000.00) AND APPROPRIATE THE
SAME TO THE SAID WICOMICO COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY, INC.
TO BE USED DURING FISCAL YEAR 1969-70 FOR THE PURPOSE
OF OPERATING AND MAINTAINING SAID ANIMAL SHELTER.

Section 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED that this Act, having
been passed by the County Council at its Legislative Session of June, 1969,
shall take effect August 1, 1969, unless a proper petition for referendum
thereof shall be validly filed prior to said date, in which event this Act
shall not take effect until the expiration of thirty (30) days following
approval of this Act by a majority of the qualified voters of the County
voting in any such referendum.
