2578                               Municipal Charters

Section 12-1918

(a)    A license may be issued to a firm or corporation under the
following conditions:

(1)    An individual member or employee has met all the qualifications
required by this subtitle.

(2)    The license shall be of the same class for which the individual
is qualified.

(3)    The license shall be valid only during the time said individual
remains a member or employee of said firm or corporation on a full time
basis.

(4)    The license shall show on its face the name of the firm or
corporation, the name of the individual and the class of the license.

(b)    During the time that said individual is associated with said
firm or corporation as set forth in subsection (a) (3) of this section, no
firm or corporate license may be issued unless the individual licensee
surrenders his license to the Department; and said individual license may
be returned to the individual only upon the termination of his employment
or association with said firm or corporation. While said individual license
is in custody of the Department, the individual shall not be required to
pay the annual renewal fee or furnish bond as required by this subtitle.

Section 12-1919

(a)   Any person who holds, or who has been examined and determined
to be qualified to hold a Master Gas Fitter or Restricted Gas Fitter
License and is not actively engaged in nor working at the gas fitting
business on his own account, must shelve or inactivate his Master or
Restricted Gas Fitter license. This shall be accomplished by written re-
quest to the Director by the person concerned who shall enclose his
license and license pocket card. In addition to those persons who already
hold a license, an applicant who desires to be examined for a Master or
Restricted Gas Fitter's license and then inactivate it, may make appli-
cation and if determined qualified may request that his new license be
issued on an inactive basis. This situation would usually occur when there
is already an active Master or Restricted Gas Fitter representing the
applicant's firm, and it is desired to have a backup license which could
be immediately activated in the event the present licensee left the firm.
The Director shall order the license and file copy marked "Voluntarily
Inactivated" and attach the written request to the file copy.

(b)   Any person who voluntarily inactivates his Master or Restricted
Gas Fitter license may at a later date reactivate his license without
an examination by written request addressed to the Director and upon
payment of the yearly renewal fee accompanied by the necessary bond.
If the person surrendering his Master or Restricted Gas Fitter license re-
quests, he may be issued either a Journeyman or Restricted Journeyman
license (without examination) upon payment of the required fee, in order
to continue in the gas fitting industry in a Journeyman capacity.

(c)  An acknowledgement shall be furnished to the person inactivating
his license stating type of license being inactivated which will serve
as evidence of his prior qualification at any future time when he should
apply to reactivate his license.
