Charter Amendment No. 4-69

Amendment No. 2

(An amendment repealing and re-enacting with amendments to para-
graph 1 of Section 3 of the Charter of the Town of Glenarden, Maryland
so that the first paragraph thereof will read that all legislative powers of
the Town are vested in a council consisting of six councilmen who shall be
elected as hereinafter provided and who shall hold office for a term of two
years and no more than three consecutive two year terms.)

The Council

3. (Number; selection, term) All legislative powers of the Town
are vested in the Council consisting of six councilmen who shall be elected
as hereinafter provided and who shall hold office for a term of two years
and no more than three consecutive two year terms.
(425 persons voted
for the amendment, and 233 voted against it.)

The regular term of councilmen shall expire on the second Monday in
June following the election of their successors. Councilmen holding office
at the time this charter becomes effective shall continue to hold office for
the term for which they were elected and until the next succeeding council
takes office under the provisions of this charter.

Charter Amendment No. 5-69

Amendment No. 3

(An amendment repealing and re-enacting with amendments Section
15 of the Charter of the town of Glenarden, Maryland to alter the term of
the Mayor from four years to two years and to provide that he shall serve
no more than two consecutive two year terms.) (417 voted for the amend-
ment, and 240 voted against it.)

The Mayor

15. (Selection and Term) The mayor shall be elected as hereinafter
provided and shall hold office for a term of two years or until his successor
is elected and qualified. The newly elected Mayor shall take office on the
second Monday in June following his election. The Mayor holding office
at the time this charter becomes effective shall continue to hold office for
the term for which he was elected and until his successor takes office under
the provisions of this Charter. The Mayor shall serve no more than two
consecutive two year terms.

Charter Amendment No. 6-69

Amendment No. 4

(An amendment repealing and re-enacting with amendments Section
28 of the Charter of the Town of Glenarden, Maryland to provide that
qualified voters of the Town shall elect six persons as councilmen to serve
for terms of two years and one person as Mayor to serve for a term of two
years to begin on the first Monday in May in every odd numbered year.)

Registration, Nominations, and Elections

28. (Election of Mayor and Councilmen) Except as otherwise pro-
vided in Section 3, on the First Monday in May in every odd numbered year,
the qualified voters of the Town shall elect six persons as councilmen to
