Whereas, Many of the existing Landlord-Tenant statutes, regula-
tions, and ordinances are antiquated and outmoded; and
Whereas, Several states have successfully revised and codified
their Landlord-Tenant Laws; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Governor
is requested to appoint a special commission to study current state
and local laws, regulations, and ordinances in the areas of Landlord-
Tenant Law, and the rental of housing and dwelling units, and to
formulate an all-encompassing revision and consolidation of land-
lord-tenant law in Maryland; and be it further
Resolved, That this Commission is requested to report on the same
to the Governor and the General Assembly not later than six months
after such commission is appointed; and be it further
Resolved, That copies of this Resolution be sent to the Honorable
Marvin Mandel, Governor of the State, the Honorable William S.
James, President of the Senate and the Honorable Thomas Hunter
Lowe, Speaker of the House.

House Joint Resolution requesting appointment by the Governor of
a Commission to investigate and study the existing Child Labor
Laws of Maryland, to determine the necessity of revising the
existing Child Labor Laws and to report thereon to the Governor,
the Legislative Council and the General Assembly.
Whereas, The Child Labor Laws have been amended, from time
to time, but there has been no general revision of these laws for
many years; and
Whereas, It is desirable to have the whole subject re-studied and
the laws revised; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Gov-
ernor be and he is hereby requested to name a Commission of eleven
(11) members, to serve without compensation and to be chosen as
follows: two (2) from the Department of Labor and Industry; one
(1) from the Workmen's Compensation Commission; two (2) from
the State Department of Education; two (2) from representatives
of labor; two (2) from representatives of industry; and two (2)
from representatives of civic groups; and be it further
Resolved, That the Commission shall determine whether or not
there is a need to revise the existing Child Labor Laws of Maryland,
and in its determination of these questions, shall hear testimony,
collect and study data from whatever source available; and be it
further
Resolved, That the Commission shall make its findings and report
its recommendations to the Governor and Legislative Council on or
