AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 83 of
Article 100 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Supple-
ment), title "Work, Labor and Employment," subtitle "Wage and
Hour Law," to provide for overtime wage rates in the minimum
wage law.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 83 of Article 100 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1969 Supplement), title "Work, Labor and Employment," subtitle
"Wage and Hour Law," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
83.
Every employer shall pay to each of his employees, except as may
be provided pursuant to this subtitle, wages at the following rates :
(1) If such employees have been subject to the provisions of the
Maryland Wage and Hour Law, and Section 83 of Article 100 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland prior to June 1, 1967, they shall receive
a wage of not less than $1.15 an hour beginning February 1, 1968,
not less than $1.30 an hour beginning February 1, 1969, not less
than $1.45 an hour beginning February 1, 1970, and not less than
$1.60 an hour beginning February 1,1971.
(2) All employees as may be subject to the provisions of this
subtitle except those as are included under Section 83(1) of Article
100 of the Annotated Code of Maryland shall receive a wage of not
less than $1.00 an hour from June 1, 1967, not less than $1.15 an
hour beginning June 1, 1968, not less than $1.30 an hour beginning
June 1, 1969, not less than $1.45 an hour beginning June 1, 1970,
and not less than $1.60 an hour beginning June 1, 1971.
(3) All employees as may be subject to the provisions of this
subtitle shall receive a wage of one and one-half (1½) times their
usual hourly wage rate for any hours worked in excess of forty (4.0)
hours during any work week.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.
