CHAPTER 18
(Senate Bill 337)

AN ACT to repeal Section 514 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Washington County (1957 Edition, being Article 22 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Washington County,"
subtitle "Roads," and to enact a new Section 514 to stand in the
place of the section repealed, amending a local law concerning
County roads in Washington County in order to remove obsolete
material and prohibit certain injuring or defacing of road markers,
automatic signals, or other traffic devices, barricades or signs on
or along these roads.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 514 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Washington
County (1957 Edition, being Article 22 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Washington County," subtitle "Roads," be
and it is hereby repealed, and that a new Section 514 be and it is
hereby enacted in lieu thereof, to stand in the place of the section so
repealed, and all to read as follows:

514.

[If any person shall wantonly injure or deface or pull down any
finger-board, he shall forfeit and pay a sum not exceeding Five
Dollars, to be recovered by warrant before a justice of the peace,
in the same manner as other small debts, one-half to the informer
and the other half to the use of the county.]

If any person wantonly injures or defaces any sign, road marker,
automatic signal, other traffic devices, barricade or sign used during
the course of construction on or along any County road, he is guilty
of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, is subject to a fine of not
less than Five Dollars or more than Fifty Dollars for each separate
offense.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

(Senate Bill 338)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 581 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Washington County (1957 Edi-
tion, being Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land), title "Washington County," subtitle "Sheriff," amending
the laws concerning the Sheriff of Washington County in order
to correct an error therein.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
