Supplement, being Article 24 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland), title "Worcester County," subtitle "Shoreline Com-
mission," to provide that the sixth member of the Shoreline Com-
mission shall be designated by the Mayor and City Council of
Ocean City and the seventh by the Board of County Commissioners
of Worcester County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 15B(a) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Worces-
ter County (1968 Supplement, being Article 24 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Worcester County," subtitle
"Shoreline Commission," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

15B.

(a) The Worcester County Shoreline Commission is created.
It shall have seven members, five of whom shall be appointed by the
Governor to serve for terms of five years each, or until their suc-
cessors are appointed and have taken their positions. The sixth
member from time to time shall be [ex officio the City Solicitor or
Chief Legal Officer of] designated by the Mayor and City Council
of Ocean City; and the seventh member from time to time shall
be [ex officio the Chairman of] designated by the Board of
County Commissioners of Worcester County. From time to time the
members of the Commission shall select their Chairman. Vacancies
among the appointive members shall be filled by the Governor for
the unexpired terms. Any person may be reappointed to the Com-
mission for successive terms. Whenever there is a vacancy in the
Commission, the Governor shall request nominations therefor from
the Board of County Commissioners of Worcester County, the Mayor
and City Council of Ocean City, and the Worcester County Farm
Bureau. The Governor shall appoint a person or persons from the
lists thus submitted to him, and in his discretion at any time he
may request additional lists of nominees. All appointees shall be
residents, property owners, and registered voters of Worcester
County. The first appointive members of the Commission and their
respective terms beginning June 1, 1965, shall be M. James Brown
for a term of one year, George Bertrand Cropper for a term of two
years, Joseph G. Harrison for a term of three years, John E. John-
son for a term of four years, and William S. Miles for a term of
five years. Thereafter, appointments to the Commission shall be for
terms of five years each.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.
