AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 37(j) of
Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Sheriffs," subtitle "Compensation and
Duties," to increase the salary of the sheriff of Frederick County.
, AND TO REMOVE THE MAXIMUM SET FOR NUMBERS
OF JAIL WARDENS TO BE APPOINTED BY THE SHERIFF.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 37(j) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1969 Replacement Volume), title "Sheriffs," subtitle "Compensation
and Duties," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
37.
(j) Frederick County.—The Sheriff of Frederick County shall re-
ceive an annual salary of [$7,500] $10,000 in addition to lodging
furnished him and his family. He shall appoint such deputies as
may be necessary who shall each receive not less than $2,400 per
year, and as many jail wardens as may be necessary, not to exceed
six (6), at an annual salary of not less than $1,320 each. The Sheriff
may appoint such additional special deputies as he may deem neces-
sary, with the approval of the County Commissioners, as to com-
pensation.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of this
Act shall not be construed to extend to apply to the Sheriff of
Frederick County in office on the effective date of this Act, but the
provisions of this Act shall take effect with the next term of office.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 6 (b)
of Article 26A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Supple-
ment), title "Criminal Injuries Compensation Act," to change
the time period within which a claimant must file a claim for
relief. WITH GOOD CAUSE THE CRIMINAL IN-
JURIES COMPENSATION ACT. PERIODS, INCLUDING THE
EXTENSION FOR GOOD CAUSE, FOR FILING A CLAIM
UNDER THE CRIMINAL INJURIES COMPENSATION ACT.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 6 (b) of Article 26A of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1969 Supplement), title "Criminal Injuries Compensation
Act," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:
