Chapter 515 of the Acts of 1929, pertaining to the Memorial
Hospital of Cumberland, Maryland, to provide that the Board of
Governors of the Memorial Hospital of Cumberland be reduced
in size to seven members, that the present memberships shall
terminate in five years and to
provide a different manner by which
Board members are selected. TO LIMIT THE LENGTH OF TIME
ANY MEMBER MAY SERVE THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS
OF THE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL OF CUMBERLAND, MARY-
LAND, AND TO CREATE A MEMORIAL HOSPITAL ADVIS-
ORY COMMITTEE TO RENDER ADVICE AND SUGGES-
TIONS TO THE BOARD.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 6 of Chapter 411 of the Acts of 1927, as last amended
by Section 1 of Chapter 515 of the Acts of 1929, pertaining to the
Memorial Hospital of Cumberland, Maryland, be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

6.

(A) That for the purpose of securing land, the erection of suitable
buildings, the purchase of proper equipment, and the maintenance
and operation of said Memorial Hospital, a Board of Governors is
hereby created, which shall be and is hereby made and constituted
a body politic and corporate by the name and style of the Board of
Governors of the Memorial Hospital of Cumberland, and by that
name shall have perpetual succession, and shall be capable to sue
and be sued, to have a common seal, and the same at its pleasure
to alter and/or break, and to have all the powers herein granted it,
and all such other powers as shall be proper and necessary to oper-
ate and manage said Hospital and/or a public general Hospital, as
fully as if incorporated for such purposes under the provisions of
the Public General Laws of Maryland. [Said Board shall consist
of seven members, and Thomas B. Finan, Tasker G. Lowndes, Mor-
ris Rosenbaum, George G. Young and Arthur J. Weber, and the
Mayor of the City of Cumberland and the President of the Board
of County Commissioners of Allegany County shall comprise said
Board, and all the members of said Board, with the exception of
the said Mayor of Cumberland and the said President of the Board
of County Commissioners of Allegany County shall retain office until
they shall reach the age of sixty-five years or during good be-

havior.] Each member serving on the Board on July 1, 1970, may

continue serving for five years or until he reaches the age of sixty-

five, moves away from the City of Cumberland and its immediate

suburbs, resigns or is removed for cause by a majority of the

entire Board, whichever comes first. No vacancy may be filled until

the number of members serving on the Board is less than seven.

The Medical Association of Allegany County shall choose the member
to fill the first vacancy that decreases membership to six individuals.
Subsequent vacancies shall be
filled by the following institutions
according to the following order: the
Western Maryland Labor
Council, the
Chamber of Commerce of Cumberland, the Mayor and
City Council of Cumberland, the County Commissioners of Allegany
County. The final two vacancies shall be
filled by members chosen
by the Governor of Maryland. Each vacancy shall be
filled by an
individual chosen by the same institution that had selected the
member whoso leaving caused the vacancy. The Governor of Mary-
