§ 11-403. Vehicle entering stop or yield intersection or through
highway.
(a) Preferential right of way at an intersection may be indicated
by stop signs or yield signs erected as authorized in section 15-108.
(b) The driver of a vehicle shall come to a full stop as required
by this subtitle at the entrance to a through highway and shall
yield the right of way to other vehicles approaching on the through
highway.
(c) The driver of a vehicle likewise shall come to a full stop
in obedience to a stop sign and yield the right of way to a vehicle
approaching on the intersecting highway as required herein at an
intersection where a stop sign is erected at one or more entrances
thereto although not a part of a through highway.
(d) The driver of a vehicle on a street or roadway on which a
"yield right of way" or "yield" sign is erected facing the driver
on the approach to an intersection or merging point with another
street or roadway shall approach with caution and yield the right
of way to vehicles approaching from the right or left on the other
street or roadway stopping if necessary to yield the right of way.
§ 11-404. Vehicle entering highway from private road or driveway.
The driver of a vehicle about to enter or cross a highway from a
private road or driveway shall stop and yield the right of way
to all vehicles approaching on the highway.
§ 11-404.1 Vehicle entering highway from crossover.
The driver of a vehicle about to enter or cross any other portion
of a highway whether signposted or not from a crossover shall yield
the right of way to all approaching vehicles.
§ 11-405. Operation of vehicles on approach of authorized emer-
gency vehicles.
(a) Upon the immediate approach of an authorized emergency
vehicle making use of audible and visual signals meeting the re-
quirements of section 12-218, or of a police vehicle properly and law-
fully making use of an audible signal only, the driver of every other
vehicle shall yield the right of way and shall immediately drive to a
position parallel to, and as close as possible to, the edge or curb of
the roadway clear of any intersection and shall stop and remain in
this position until the authorized emergency vehicle has passed, ex-
cept when otherwise directed by a police officer.
(b) This section shall not operate to relieve the driver of an
authorized emergency vehicle from the duty to drive with due re-
gard for the safety of all persons using the highway.
Part V—Pedestrians' Rights and Rules
§ 11-501. Pedestrians subject to traffic regulations.
Pedestrians shall be subject to traffic-control signals at intersec-
tions as provided in section 11-202, but at all other places pedes-
trians shall be accorded the privileges and shall be subject to the
restrictions stated in this subtitle.
