§ 6-105.1. Driving by driver education students.
Any student 15 years of age or older enrolled in a high school or
junior high school course in driver education and training may oper-
ate a dual control motor vehicle without obtaining an instruction and
examination license, when such student is under instruction and ac-
companied by a qualified driver training instructor of said course.
Any instructor must be at least 21 years of age and must have had at
least two years' driving experience, and a valid Maryland driver's
license.
The Commissioner of Motor Vehicles may accept a certificate as
proof of such applicant's knowledge of the traffic laws of the State
without further examination as to such knowledge.
§ 6-106. Application for license.
(a) Every application for a driver's license shall be made upon a
form furnished by the department.
(b) Every such application shall state:
(1) The full legal name, residence address, race, sex, height,
weight and date of birth of the applicant;
(2) Whether the applicant has theretofore been licensed and, if
so, when and by what state or country, and whether the license has
ever been suspended, revoked, cancelled, or refused, and if so the date
of and reason for such suspension, revocation, cancellation, or
refusal;
(3) The applicant's general physical condition;
(4) The applicant's occupation; and
(5) Such other pertinent facts as the department requires.
(c) The application shall be signed by the applicant who shall
certify that the statements made thereon are true and correct.
(d) Each applicant for an original license shall submit with his
application a birth certificate or other proof of age and identity
satisfactory to the department.
(e) Whenever application is received from a person previously
licensed in another jurisdiction, the department may request a copy
of the driver's record from the other jurisdiction.
(f) Whenever the department receives request for a driving
record from another licensing jurisdiction the record may be for-
warded without charge.
§ 6-107. Application of minors.
(a) The application of any person under the age of 21 years
shall be signed by a parent or guardian of the applicant; and if
there be no parent or guardian, by an employer of the minor; and if
there be no parent, guardian, or employer, by a responsible adult who
is willing to assume the obligation imposed under this article upon a
person signing the application of a minor. The commissioner, in his
discretion, may issue a license to a married person under the age of 21
if the application is signed by a responsible adult who is willing to
