Forces of the United States in a place outside the United States,
but only for a period of 30 days after the licensee returns to the
United States.

§ 6-102.2. Classes of license.

(a)    Every driver's license issued under this subtitle shall be
clearly identified as either a Class A, Class B, Class C or Class D
license. Any license, in addition to one of the foregoing classes,
may be identified as a Class E license.

(b)    A Class A license shall authorize the licensee to drive com-
binations of vehicles and any vehicle which the holder of a Class B,
C or D license may drive.

(c)    A Class B license shall authorize the licensee to drive vehicles
of a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or more, and any vehicle which
the holder of a Class C or D license may drive.

(d)    A Class C license authorizes the licensee to drive any bus
and any vehicle which the holder of a Class D license may drive.

(e)    A Class D license shall authorize the licensee to drive any
vehicle except (i) combinations of vehicles, (ii) trucks with a gross
weight of more than 20,000 pounds, (iii) buses and (iv) motorcycles.

(f)    A Class E license shall authorize the licensee to drive motor-
cycles.

(g)    Subject to the provisions of this Article, nothing in the sec-
tion shall prevent the holders of Class B, C, or D licenses from oper-
ating the types of vehicles which they are licensed to operate and to
which is attached a semi-trailer or a trailer as defined in Sections
1.184 and 1.203 of this Article.

§ 6-102.3. Validity of licenses issued under former code.

All operators', chauffeurs', special chauffeurs' and motorcycle oper-
ators' licenses issued under Article 66½ of this Code prior to January
1, 1971, shall continue to be valid and shall authorize the licensee to
drive all classes of vehicles which the licensee was authorized to
drive under said license until the expiration of such license at which
time it shall be simultaneously converted and renewed.

§ 6-102.4. Age requirements.

(a)    Except as provided in subsection 13, no driver's license shall
be issued to any person who does not meet the minimum age require-
ments shown below for the indicated class of license:

(b)    A Class B, D, or E license may be issued to a person who is
at least 16 years old if the person has passed a driver's education
