bus insignia, front and rear and "stop" signals front and rear. When
operating a school bus for any purposes other than those above set
forth, the owner shall obtain from the department an additional reg-
istration plate for which the charge shall be $40.00 per year; except
that, on one Sunday during October in any year (with no extra charge
and no additional license plate), a school bus may be chartered by a
non-profit agency or organization and for such day of operation the
owner of the bus shall provide to the chartering agency or organiza-
tion a certificate of insurance meeting the financial responsibility
requirements of this article. When operating a school bus for any
purpose other than the scheduled operation of transporting pupils
between home and school or to or from any school activity, the
operator of the bus shall cover the school bus license plate as well as
all markings on the bus indicating it to be a school bus. The depart-
ment shall issue a distinctive plate to be used on buses operating on
a schedule for the transporting of pupils between home and school or
to and from any school activity.

§ 8-811. Registration fees for passenger busescharter or for hire
(Class I. Pneumatic Tires)

(a) All buses operating under charter or for hire, exclusive of
those operating on a regularly fixed schedule, and between fixed
termini, shall pay annual registration fees as follows:

Buses with a seating capacity of 29 or fewer$150.

Buses with a seating capacity of 30 to 37$190.

Buses with a seating capacity of 38 to 45—$235.

Buses with a seating capacity of 46 or over$280.

(b) Motor vehicles paying the annual fee required by Section 184
(a) of Article 56 or Section 273(a) of Article 81 shall not be subject
to the fees required by this section.

§ 3-812. Registration fees for commercial motor vehicles with
solid tires (Class J. Solid Tires).

All commercial motor vehicles equipped with solid or cushion
rubber tires shall pay a registration fee twice that specified for the
corresponding class of pneumatic tire equipped motor vehicles in-
cluding twice the minimum fee established in such class, and an
additional fee of $35.00 for each vehicle.

§ 3-813. Fees for issuance of dealers' plates for dealers in new
vehicles (Class K. Dealer, New).

(a)    Each year a fee of $35.00 shall be paid for the first 2 registra-
tion plates issued to each manufacturer, dealer or distributor for use
on new vehicles, and a fee of $7.00 for each additional registration
plate issued to such manufacturer, dealer or distributor for such use,
except as provided in sections 3-814 and 3-818.

(b)    Such registration plates shall be interchangeable among the
vehicles owned or used by such manufacturer, dealer or distributor
during the current year in which issued, but only on vehicles which
may lawfully be operated under such plates. Class L plates may be
used only on motorcycles. Class Y plates may be used only on trailers
and semi-trailers.
