(xiv) Wilful failure or refusal to comply with the terms of a war-
ranty or guarantee.

296B.

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to tamper
with, damage, interfere with or alter the odometer of any motor
vehicle which would misrepresent the actual accumulated recorded
mileage.

Penalties. Violation of the provisions of this section shall be
deemed a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punishable by
a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500) or by imprison-
ment for not more than six (6) months or by both such fine and
imprisonment.

312A.

(A)  It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to sell
or offer for sale any tire which has been regrooved or recut below
the original tread design depth and provided further
UNLESS SUCH
TIRE IS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO BE REGROOVED OR
RECUT AND FOLLOWING SUCH PROCEDURE THE TIRE
COMPLIES WITH STANDARDS ESTABLISHED BY THE
UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION. &

(B)  IT shall be unlawful for any person to sell or transfer any
vehicle or to drive or otherwise move any vehicle upon any high-
way of this State which is equipped with regrooved or recut tires
below the original tread design depth.
EXCEPT AS PROVIDED
IN SUBSECTION (A) OF THIS SECTION.

Penalties. (C) Violation of the provisions of this section shall be
deemed a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punishable by
a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500) or by imprison-
ment for not more than six (6) months or by both such fine and
imprisonment.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

CHAPTER 531
(House Bill 30)

AN ACT to repeal Sections 5 through 14, inclusive, of Article 40
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement Volume),
title "General Assembly," subtitle "Employment of Legislative
Counsel and Agents and Return of Legislative Expenses," and to
enact new Sections 5 through 14, inclusive, to said Article of said
Code, to stand in the place of the sections so repealed, and to be
under the new subtitle "Legislative Agents" to provide for the
registration of legislative agents with the Secretary of State, the
filing of authorizations, the filing of reports within a certain time,
penalties for violations, the dealing generally with legislative
agents and their employers.
