(g) Accepting any federal funds granted by act of Congress or
by executive order for any and all of the purposes of this subtitle.

(h) Accepting any gifts, donations or bequests for any or all of
the purposes of this subtitle.

402.

The Council is authorized to conduct programs subject to approval
of the Secretary of Economic and Community Development,
includ-
ing, but not limited to the following:

(a)     Continuation of the program of the body formerly known
as the Governor's Council on the Arts in Maryland including its
State-wide survey of resources and needs in the arts.

(b)    Determine the extent to which existing resources can fill
the needs.

(c)    Design new or expanded programs in the arts either in-
dividually or in concert with existing arts organizations or arts
organizations which may come into existence hereafter.

(d)    Encourage and assist in the formation and activities of local
community arts councils.

(e)    Provide technical and consultative assistance to arts
organizations throughout the State.

(f)    Assist, both logistically and financially, in the touring of
outstanding professional performances and exhibitions of art, from
within and outside the State, to communities throughout the State.

(g)    Make awards for excellence in the arts.

(h) Make grants to arts organizations and individual artists.

(i) Cooperate with educational institutions and organizations
to establish a higher level of education in and appreciation of the
arts on the part of students throughout the State.

(j) Explore the feasibility of regional arts programming in the
neighboring states and of program exchange with other states and
implement any such programs it deems advisable.

(k) Publish an annual report and such other material as it deems
appropriate.

(1) Make recommendations to the Board of Public Works con-
cerning appropriate aesthetic decorations, embellishments, acces-
sories or ornamentation to State projects, buildings and property.

Sec. 9. And be it further enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That Section 181A of Article 41 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1957 Edition, 1965 Replacement Volume), title "Gov-
ernor—Executive and Administrative Departments," subtitle "Mary-
land Historical Trust" be and the same is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
