Mr. Mitchell then withdrew the nomination of Clarence Mitchell, Jr. There being no further nominations the Chairman announced that the Joint Session was ready to vote to fill the office of Governor. The Senate Reading Clerk proceeded to call the roll which resulted with the Hon. Marvin Mandel being elected Governor of Maryland to fill out the term of Spiro T.
