persons, associations of persons or corporations. In Washington
County, the County Commissioners are authorized to pay out of the
fund claims for damages to shrubbery and trees, and for damages to
personal property of any kind. The provisions of this section dealing
with the maintenance of a separate fund designated "the dog license
fund" are not applicable to Harford [.] and Allegany Counties. In
Harford County and in Allegany County all such monies collected
and all such claims paid shall be from general funds of the county.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

(House Bill 388)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 159 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Allegany County (1963 Edition and
1967 Supplement, being Article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland), title "Allegany County," subtitle "Fire Companies";
to repeal Sections 160 and 162 of said Article and subtitle; and to
enact a new Section 160 in lieu of the Section 160 so repealed,
revising the provisions concerning payments made to the several
fire companies, fire departments, and volunteer fire companies in
Allegany County and providing generally for the payments to be
made to these organizations and agencies by the County Commis-
sioners of Allegany County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 159 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Allegany County
(1963 Edition and 1967 Supplement, being Article 1 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Allegany County," subtitle
"Fire Companies," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments; that Sections 160 and 162 of said Article and subtitle
be and they are hereby repealed, and that a new Section 160 be and it
is hereby enacted in lieu of the Section 160 so repealed, and all to
read as follows:

159.

The County Commissioners of Allegany County are hereby au-
thorized, empowered and directed to pay the sum of [$22,813.40]
$46,950.00 annually to the several volunteer and other fire companies
so long as said fire companies remain incorporated bodies, for their
benefit, said sum of money to be used by the respective fire companies
for the purchase, repair or maintenance of fire fighting equipment
or for the repair, maintenance or upkeep of buildings used by the
respective fire companies.
