ization and General Requirements," to add a new provision to the
subsection excepting insurance written through the Maryland
Automobile Insurance Plan and insurance written through the
Maryland Property Insurance Availability Program from the re-
quirements of the section.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 59 (4) of Article 48A of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1968 Replacement Volume), title "Insurance Code," subtitle
"Insurers: Authorization and General Requirements," be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

59.

(4) This section shall not apply to:

(i) Reinsurance.

(ii) Life insurance, health insurance or annuity contracts.

(iii) Insurance of the rolling stock, vessels or aircraft of any
common carrier in interstate or foreign commerce, or of any vehicle
principally garaged and used in another state, or covering any liabil-
ity or other risks incident to the ownership, maintenance or opera-
tion thereof.

(iv) Insurance of property in course of transportation interstate
or in foreign trade, or any liability or risk incident thereto.

(v) Insurance of wet marine and transportation risks.

(vi) Bid bonds issued in connection with any public or private
contracts.

(vii) Policies or endorsements issued through agents compen-
sated only by salary or issued by insurers not using agents in the
general solicitation of business; or to policies or endorsements issued
by mutual or any other insurers not customarily using agents com-
pensated by commission and on which no commission, as such, is
payable to any agent; or to policies or endorsements issued by an
insurer or group of insurers under common management or control
which are represented exclusively by agents who represent only such
insurer or group of insurers or to reciprocal insurers.

(viii) Insurance written through the Maryland Automobile Insur-
ance Plan or the Maryland Property Insurance Availability Program.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.
