(Senate Bill 26)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 23 of
Article 48A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Insurance Code," subtitle "Definitions and
General Provisions," providing that the Insurance Commissioner
report certain statistics on a fiscal year basis.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 23 of Article 48A of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1968 Replacement Volume), title "Insurance Code," subtitle
"Definitions and General Provisions," be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
23.
(1) As early in the calendar year as is reasonably possible the
Commissioner shall prepare and deliver an annual report to the
Governor and the members of the General Assembly, showing, with
respect to the preceding calendar year:
(a)[(1)] List of the authorized insurers transacting insurance
business in Maryland, with such summary of their financial state-
ment as he deems appropriate;
(b) [(2)] Names of all insurers whose business was closed during
the year, the cause thereof, and the amount of assets and liabilities
as ascertainable;
(c)[(3)] Names of insurers against which delinquency or similar
proceedings were instituted, and a concise statement of the facts
with respect to each such proceeding and the status thereof;
[(4) A statement of fees and taxes received and paid by him
into the State Treasury for the prior fiscal year;]
(d)[(5)] Recommendations of the Commissioner as to amend-
ments or supplementation of laws affecting insurance, and as to
matters affecting the Department; and
(e) [(6)] Such other pertinent information and matters as the
Commissioner deems proper.
(2) As early in each fiscal year as is reasonably possible the Com-
missioner shall prepare and deliver a supplementary report to the
Governor and the members of the General Assembly, providing,
with respect to the preceding fiscal year, a statement of fees and
taxes received and paid by him into the State Treasury.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.
