dispensaries, who shall hold office for a term of six (6) years, begin-
ning June 1, 1947, and shall furnish to the said liquor control board
a good and sufficient bond in a penalty amount to be fixed by the said
liquor control board for the faithful performance of his duties as
manager. Said manager shall receive as compensation for his serv-
ices an annual salary of not less than three thousand dollars
($3,000.00) nor more than [six thousand five hundred dollars
($6,500.00)] eight thousand five hundred dollars ($8,500.00), and
in addition the liquor control board shall from time to time have
authority to reimburse said manager for expenses incurred in the
performance of his duties. The manager, with the consent and ap-
proval of the liquor control board, shall appoint such other em-
ployees as may be necessary to conduct such county liquor dispen-
saries or branch dispensaries, fix their compensation at not less than
$25.00 nor more than $100.00 per week and require such bonds for
the faithful performance of their duties as the said board may in
each case determine.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

(House Bill 864)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 37(1)
of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replace-
ment Volume and 1968 Supplement), title "Sheriffs," subtitle
"Compensation and Duties," to increase the salary of the Sheriff
of Harford County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 37(1) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1965 Replacement Volume and 1968 Supplement), title "Sheriffs,"
subtitle "Compensation and Duties," be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

(1) The Sheriff of Harford County shall receive an annual salary
of [ten thousand dollars $10,000).] fifteen thousand dollars ($15,-
000.00). He shall appoint such deputies and at such compensation
as may be provided by the County Commissioners of said county.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of this Act
shall not be construed to extend or apply to the sheriff in office on
the effective date of this Act but the provisions of this Act shall
take effect with the next term of office.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.
