1912                              MUNICIPAL CHARTERS

I HEREBY CERTIFY, That the aforegoing Resolution amending the
Charter of the City of Cumberland, Maryland, was passed this 10th day of
June, 1968, with four votes in the affirmative and no votes in the negative.

I HEREBY CERTIFY, That the aforegoing is a true and exact copy
of Charter Amendment Resolution No. 33 passed by the Mayor and City
Council of Cumberland, Maryland, in Regular Session on June 10, 1968.

I HEREBY FURTHER CERTIFY, That there was no Petition for a
Referendum on the proposed amendment filed within the required time
and, therefore, the same became effective on July 30, 1968.

Charter Amendment Resolution No. 34

Resolution of the Mayor and City Council of Cumberland, Maryland,
adopted pursuant to the authority contained in Article 11-E of the
Constitution of the State of Maryland, and Section 13 of Article 23A
of the Annotated Code of Maryland, entitled "Municipal Corpora-
tions," as said section was enacted by Chapter 423 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland, 1955, entitled "A Resolution to amend
the Charter of the City of Cumberland, Maryland, (1966 Edition),
by repealing and reenacting, with amendments, Sections 150 and 151,
found under the subtitle 'Contracts/ and which deal with purchases
of supplies and equipment."

Section 1. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUN-
CIL OF CUMBERLAND, That Section 150 of the Charter of the City of
Cumberland (1966 Edition), under the subtitle "Contracts," be and is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

All supplies and equipment needed at any time by the several depart-
ments of the city may be purchased on an order passed by said mayor and
city council, provided the cost of the supplies or equipment covered by any
one order shall not exceed [$500.00] $1500.00.

Section 2. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That Section 151
of the Charter of the City of Cumberland (1966 Edition), under the sub-
title "Contracts," and reading as follows, be and is hereby repealed:

[When the cost of the supplies or equipment exceeds $500.00 the city
clerk shall advertise for one week in two papers of opposite political faith
published in said city for bids to furnish said supplies or equipment; said
bids shall be opened by the city clerk in the presence of the said city
council, and the said city council shall accept the lowest responsible bid
which shall be considered reasonable by said city council.]

Section 3. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That Section 151
of the Charter of the City of Cumberland (1966 Edition), be and is hereby
reenacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

When the cost of supplies or equipment exceeds Fifteen Hundred
Dollars ($1500.00), the City Clerk shall cause an advertisement to be
placed in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Cumberland
once in each week for a period of two weeks, calling for bids to furnish
said supplies or equipment. Upon receipt
