Amendments to Municipal Charters

Resolution of June 17, 1968
Resolution of the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Annapolis,
adopted pursuant to the authority contained in Article 11-E of the
Constitution of the State of Maryland and Article 23-A of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1965 Edition), to repeal and re-enact, with
amendments, Section 30-A of the Charter of the City of Annapolis
titled "Additional Allowance to Certain Retired Employees," to pro-
vide for an increase in allowances to certain retired employees.
Section 1. BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Aldermen of the City
of Annapolis that Section 30-A of the Charter of the City of Annapolis be,
and the same is hereby, repealed and re-enacted to read as follows:
Section 30-A. Additional allowance to certain retired employees.
Any employee of the City of Annapolis who is retired and who is
receiving by reason of his prior city employment any retirement allowance
under the provisions of Article 73-B, titled "Pensions" of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), and where such allowance arising from
prior city employment in the aggregate is less than Two Hundred Dollars
($200.00) per month, the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Annapolis
shall pay to such employee an additional sum not exceeding One Hundred
Fifty Dollars ($150.00) per month, upon application to the Mayor and
Aldermen of the City of Annapolis. Provided, however, that the sum
granted to any applicant by the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Annap-
olis, shall be in such amount that when added to whatever sum any such
person is receiving from the Employees Retirement System of the State of
Maryland, the total amount shall not exceed Two Hundred Dollars
($200.00) per month. If such retired employee is seventy-five years of age
or over, the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Annapolis shall pay to him
such additional allowance that when added to the sum received by him
under the provisions of Article 73-B, titled "Pensions" of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition) will total in the aggregate a payment to
such person of Two Hundred Twenty-Five Dollars ($225.00) each month,
and said Mayor and Aldermen shall annually levy an amount sufficient
to pay said additional allowance as established by them under the provi-
sions of this section. As to any employee of the City of Annapolis em-
ployed on or after the 11th day of May, 1964, the provisions of this section
shall not apply unless such employee has been employed by the said City
for a period of ten years and has been a participant in the Employees'
Retirement System of the State of Maryland continuously during such
period of employment. The provisions of Section 29 of Article 73-B of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition) shall not apply or govern
this section.
Section 2. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Mayor and
Aldermen of the City of Annapolis that the date of adoption of this Resolu-
