I, C. Stanley Blair, Secretary Of State Of The State Of
Maryland, pursuant to the direction contained in Section 23-11 (c)
of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, (1957 Edition),
Do Hereby Certify, that at the General Election held in the State of
Maryland on November 5, 1968, an Act known as Chapter 617 of the
Acts of 1968, was submitted to the voters of the State of Maryland,
pursuant to the provisions of Article 14 of the Constitution of the
State of Maryland, said Act being as follows;
"An Act to propose amendments to Article 4 of the Constitution
of Maryland, title "Judiciary Department," by amending Sec-
tion 31 and repealing Section 31A thereof, to remove obsolete
provisions from said Section 31 and to eliminate the authority
granted to the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore to supple-
ment salaries paid to judges of the Supreme Bench of Balti-
more City and submitting this amendment to the qualified
voters of the State of Maryland for their adoption or
rejection, subject to a certain contingency."
and i do certify, that at said election 290,179 votes were cast
in favor of the adoption of Chapter 617 of the Acts of 1968, and
235,073 votes were cast against the adoption of said Chapter 617 of
the Acts of 1968, the said Act has therefore been ratified by a
majority of the qualified voters of the State of Maryland.
In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my
name and affixed my official seal at the City of Annapolis
this 6th Day of December, 1968.
