or prior thereto, a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
of higher learning within or without the State of Maryland, [(3)]
(2) whose financial needs and resources meet the requirements there-
for as determined by rules and regulations that may be adopted and
promulgated by the County Commissioners, and [(4)] (3) who fur-
nish a surety bond to the County Commissioners, in such amount and
with such security as may be determined by the County Commis-
sioners, the condition of which bond is that the applicant, provided
he receives the M.D. degree and following a desired period of intern-
ship and residency shall engage in the general practice of medicine
in Worcester County for a period of not less than five years.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

(House Bill 1436)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 49 of
Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement
Volume and 1968 Supplement), title "Public Education," subtitle
"Chapter 5. County Board of Education," increasing the travel and
expense allowance for the Worcester County Board of Education.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 49 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1965 Replacement Volume and 1968 Supplement), title "Public
Education," subtitle "Chapter 5. County Board of Education," be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

49.

The county board of education shall hold an annual meeting each
year on the second Tuesday in May, or as near as possible thereto in
May, except that in Montgomery County such annual meeting shall
be held on or before the tenth day of January in each year. At this
meeting the board shall elect one of its members to serve as president
and one to serve as vice-president. Other regular meetings shall be
held at least once in each school term, and such special meetings may
be held as the duties and business of the board may require. The
members of the county boards of education shall receive no salary,
but each member shall receive the sum of one hundred dollars annu-
ally for traveling and other expenses incident to attending the meet-
ings and transacting the business of the board within the county,
provided, however, that in Dorchester and Somerset counties each
member of the board of education shall receive annually the sum of
five hundred dollars for such traveling and other expenses. In Charles
County each member of the county Board of Education shall receive
compensation at the rate of six hundred dollars annually, and in
Allegany County each member of the Board of Education shall re-
ceive not more than two hundred dollars annually for such traveling
