Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 17(e) of Article 95A of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land, (1964 Replacement Volume), title "Unemployment Insurance
Law," subtitle "Penalties," be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted with amendments to read as follows:

17.

(e) Repayment of funds illegally received.—When any person
is found by the Executive Director to have made a false statement
or representation knowing it to be false or to have knowingly failed
to disclose a material fact to obtain or increase any benefit or other
payment under this article, such person shall be required to repay
to the Executive Director for the fund a sum equal to all of the bene-
fits received by or paid to such individual for each week with respect
to which such false statement or representation was made or with
respect to which he failed to disclose a material fact and such per-
son shall be disqualified from the receipt of benefits for the period
of one year from the date on which the determination is made that
an improper claim was filed involving such false statement or repre-
sentation or failure to disclose a material fact and thereafter except
as provided herein
while any sum payable to the Executive Director
for the fund under this subsection is still due and unpaid. Provided
that after the expiration of three
FIVE years following the date of the
offense, or one year after the expiration of the one-year disqualifi-
cation imposed under this subsection, whichever occurs later, a
claimant may qualify for benefits from
any part of the repay-
ment due the Executive Director and unpaid may
SHALL be FULLY
recovered.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, that this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

CHAPTER 705
(House Bill 915)

AN ACT to repeal Sections 124, 125 and 126 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Charles County (1965 Edition, being Article 9 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Charles County,"
subtitle "Fire Companies," Section 125 as added by Chapter 257
of the Acts of 1968, and to enact new Sections 124 and 125 in lieu
thereof, to stand in the place of the sections so repealed; to pro-
vide for a rescue tax to support the volunteer rescue squads in
Charles County and to provide for the method of disbursements,
inspections and compliance with equipment standards and to pro-
vide further for the exclusion of the Charles County Rescue Squad
from the provisions of this section.
