AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 32A (b)
of Article 88A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Supple-
ment) , title "State Department of Social Services," subtitle "Child
Care," to amend the exemption from licensing for those persons
who provide day care for children under certain circumstances.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 32A (b) of Article 88A of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1968 Supplement), title "State Department of Social Services,"
subtitle "Child Care," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments to read as follows:
32A.
(b) Exemptions from license requirement.—No license is required
if family day care is provided by:
(1) A person related to the child by blood or marriage;
(2) A IN THE COUNTIES, A person who is a close friend of the
child's parents or legal guardian and is providing such care [on an
occasional basis] FOR NOT MORE THAN FOUR CHILDREN
whether occasionally or on a regular basis, regardless of any agree-
ment between the parties as to payments; or
(3) A person who has received the care of the child from a child
placement agency licensed hereunder by the State Department of
Social Services or from a local department of social services.
(4) A PERSON WHO IS A CLOSE FRIEND OF THE CHILD'S
PARENTS OR LEGAL GUARDIAN AND IS PROVIDING SUCH
CARE ON AN OCCASIONAL BASIS.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.
