all who come in contact with him. The policeman shall also wear
a uniform which shall be distinguishable from, ordinary civilian
clothing and give some notice of his designation as a law enforce-
ment official. The uniform and badge

shall be subject to the acceptance or refusal by the State Police. The
provisions of this subsection shall not apply to a special policeman
when on detective duty.

(b) Every special policeman on detective duty shall carry proper
identification identifying him as a special policeman and shall also
carry a distinctive police badge as referred to in subsection 65(a)
above.

Each person appointed under this subtitle, within thirty days
after his certificate of appointment has been issued and before enter-
ing upon the duties of his office, shall take and subscribe the constitu-
tional oath of office before the Clerk of the Court in the County or
Baltimore City, where the commission may be received. The Clerk
of the Court shall transmit to the Secretary of State a certificate
indicating that the person commissioned has taken the constitutional
oath of office.

Each person appointed under this subtitle shall be deemed to be
the employee of the State, agency, governing body, school system, or
business concern requesting his appointment. He shall be compen-
sated by it on whatever terms contracted for.

68.

All commissions issued by the Governor shall be effective for the

period until June 1 of the odd year following the date of issuance

A PERIOD OF TWO (2) YEARS FROM THE DATE OF ISSUE.
At the expiration of the term the commission shall be renewable upon
application by the requesting agency. The application shall be in a
form prescribed by the Superintendent. It shall be accompanied by a
fee of
$5 $15 $10 to cover the costs of renewal PROVIDED, HOW-
EVER THE
SUPERINTENDENT MAY ACCEPT AN INVESTI-
GATION REPORT SUBMITTED BY THE EMPLOYER OF AN AP-
PLICANT FOR THE COMMISSION. THE REPORT SHALL BE

ACCOMPANIED BY A FEE OF $5.00 TO COVER THE COST OF
PROCESSING THE APPLICANT IN LIEU OF THE $15.00 FEE
PROVIDED HEREIN. THE FEE IS NON REFUNDABLE IF
THE APPLICATION IS DENIED. All commissions in effect as
of the effective date of this act shall be continued in effect for a
period of two years, at the end of which time they shall terminate
unless renewed as prescribed above. The Superintendent of the State
Police may prescribe a date by which applications for renewal must
be submitted to him.
