Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 261, 262, 263 and 264 of Article 77 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement Volume and 1968 Supple-
ment), title "Public Education," subtitle "General Assembly Schol-
arship Awards," be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
261.
The eligible institutions under this program of scholarships are
fas follows:
College of Notre Dame of Maryland
Hood College
Johns Hopkins University
Loyola College
The Maryland Institute
Mount Saint Agnes College
Mount Saint Mary's College
The Peabody Institute
St. John's College
St. Joseph's College
Washington College
Western Maryland College
Goucher College
University of Baltimore
Columbia Union College
Bowie State College
Coppin State College
Frostburg State College
Maryland State College
Morgan State College
St. Mary's College of Maryland
Salisbury State College
Towson State College
University of Maryland]
those institutions of higher education in Maryland which are accred-
ited by the State Department of Education.

Scholarship aid, to be used to defray all or part of the cost of
tuition, room and board (except that scholarship funds may not be
used to pay the cost of housing off the campus when on-campus
housing is available to the student) and mandatory fees required to
be paid to the institution at any of the participating institutions
[set forth] as provided in Section 261 of this Article is to be granted
in units of [two hundred and fifty] one hundred dollars [($250.00)]
($100.00) for each year of the award. Each Senator may award each
year a total of [fifty-eight] one hundred forty-five units of scholar-
ship and provided that no single award to a recipient may be less
than two units or exceed [six] fifteen units for each year of the four
years of undergraduate study, or a total of [twenty-four] sixty
units.

Any award to be made according to the provisions of this subtitle
shall be given only to an applicant who has met the following con-
