(2) The State's Attorney's allowance for office expenses, includ-
ing stationery, postage, premium on official bond, and clerical serv-
ices, is [three thousand dollars ($3,000)] five thousand dollars
($5,000.00) to be paid upon submission of properly certified vouchers
to the Wicomico County Council.
(3) The State's Attorney of Wicomico County is required to
maintain and staff an office in the Wicomico County courthouse.
(4) Subject to the recommendation of the resident judge of the
Circuit Court of Wicomico County and with the approval of the
Wicomico County Council, the State's Attorney may appoint a mem-
ber of the bar of Wicomico County as assistant State's attorney, to
serve for a particular case or series of cases. The Wicomico County
Council shall provide and fix the compensation of such assistant
State's Attorney. Under the direction of the State's Attorney, the
assistant State's attorney shall present cases and perform such
other acts and duties in the operation of the office as are necessary
and proper.
SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT NOTH-
ING IN THIS ACT SHALL BE CONSTRUED OR APPLIED
TO CHANGE OR AFFECT THE SALARY OF THE STATE'S
ATTORNEY WHO IS IN OFFICE ON THE EFFECTIVE
DATE OF THIS ACT, FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE TERM
IN WHICH HE THEN IS SERVING. THE INCREASE IN
SALARY FOR THE STATE'S ATTORNEY SHALL TAKE
EFFECT AS OF THE BEGINNING OF THE TERM OF THE
STATE'S ATTORNEY WHO IS ELECTED TO THAT OFFICE
IN THE REGULAR ELECTIONS IN NOVEMBER 1970.
Sec. 2 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 19 (k)
of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle "Beer, Wine
and Liquor Licenses," to correct a reference to time of closing as
specifying "Eastern Standard Time."
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 19(k) of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1968 Replacement Volume), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle
"Beer, Wine and Liquor Licenses," be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
