Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 51 (g) of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1968 Supplement), title "County Commissioners," subtitle "County
Treasurers," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

51.

(g) The county treasurer of Charles County shall receive an an-
nual salary of $7,000.00 for the remainder of the present term, and a
salary of
$9,000.00, dating from the beginning of the term of the
County Treasurer [who began his term next after June 1, 1967.]
which begins next after the election to that office in the month of
November, 1970.
The salary of the deputy treasurer shall not exceed
$7,000.00 nor be less than $5,000.00 per annum. In Charles County,
clerical assistants shall be appointed by the county treasurer of said
county. The County Commissioners of Charles County may- SHALL
pay remuneration to the Treasurer for necessary and proper ex-
penses incurred in the performance of his duties. The remuneration
shall not be in excess of two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) for any
year; it may
SHALL be paid for any year beginning with July 1,
1968; and it may
SHALL be paid only upon the treasurer's submit-
ting vouchers therefor as evidence of his incurring the expenses.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

CHAPTER 474
(Senate Bill 699)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 653 of
Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement
Volume), title "Health," subtitle "Sanitary Districts," to provide
method by which a Sanitary Commission shall give notice con-
cerning plans for water and sewerage, time for hearing, appeal,
and other matters relating thereto.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 653 of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1965 Replacement Volume), title "Health," subtitle "Sanitary Dis-
tricts," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

653.

(a) The commission may cause surveys, plans, specifications, and
estimates to be made for water and sewerage systems in those por-
tions of the county or counties in which the commission exercises
authority, and may divide each sanitary district into water and sewer-
age districts in such way as shall, in its judgment, best serve the needs
of the various communities, and shall promote convenience and
economy of installation and operation. Whenever, and as such plans
are completed, the commission shall give notice by publication in one
