AN ACT to add new Section 354A to Article 48A of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1968 Replacement Volume),
title "Insurance Code," subtitle "Insurance Contracts Generally,"
"NON-PROFIT HEALTH SERVICES PLANS," to follow imme-
diately after Section 354 thereof and to add new Section 470B to
Article 48A of the same Code, title "Insurance Code," subtitle
"Government Health Institutions," "HEALTH INSURANCE," to
follow immediately after Section 470A thereof, to prohibit the
exclusion of tax supported hospitals or other institutions from
coverage under sickness and accident insurance policies or certifi-
cates issued in the State of Maryland.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 354A be and it is hereby added to Article 48A of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1968 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Insurance Code," subtitle "Insurance Contracts
Generally," "NON-PROFIT HEALTH SERVICES PLANS," to fol-
low immediately after Section 354 thereof, and that new Section
470B be and it is hereby added to Article 48A of the same Code, title
"Insurance Code," subtitle "Government Health Institutions,"
"HEALTH INSURANCE," to follow immediately after Section
470A thereof, and to read as follows:

No certificate or policy of sickness and accident insurance delivered
or issued for a deliverance after the effective date of this Act JULY
1, 1969 to any person in this State, including both individual certifi-
cates or policies and group certificates or policies, which provide
coverage for tuberculosis or mental illness or any other illness, shall
exclude payments or benefits for treatment of such patients treated
in hospitals or other institutions of the State of Maryland or any
county or municipality thereof, whether such hospitals or other insti-
tutions be deemed charitable or otherwise.
