(Senate Bill 521)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 25 (a)
(1) of Article 36 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Re-
placement Volume), title "Fees of Officers," subtitle "Sheriffs," in
order to increase the sheriff's fee for serving a paper OR MAK-
ING AN ATTACHMENT OR EXECUTION in Baltimore City.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 25 (a) (1) of Article 36 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1965 Replacement Volume), title "Fees of Officers," subtitle
"Sheriffs," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
25.
(a) The several sheriffs in this State may charge and collect
these fees:
(1) For any action or service which involves only the serving of
a paper and is not an act of execution or attachment, a fee of $2.00,
except that in Baltimore City said fee shall be $4.00.
(2) FOR ANY ACTION OR SERVICE WHICH INCLUDES AN
ACT OF EXECUTION OR ATTACHMENT, INVOLVING A
SEIZURE OR A TAKING INTO CUSTODY OF ANY PROPERTY,
REAL OR PERSONAL, OR OF ANY PERSON, A FEE OF FOUR
DOLLARS ($4.00), EXCEPT THAT IN BALTIMORE CITY THIS
FEE SHALL BE TEN DOLLARS ($10.00). IF THE SHERIFF
INCURS ANY ACTUAL EXPENSES FOR THE PURPOSE OF
CONSERVING AND PROTECTING PROPERTY SEIZED, HE
SHALL BE ENTITLED TO REIMBURSEMENT FOR SUCH
EXPENDITURES.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

CHAPTER 452
(Senate Bill 527)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 36 (b) of
Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replacement
Volume and 1968 Supplement), title "Crimes and Punishments,"
subtitle "Concealed Weapons," and to add new Section 90A to
Article 56 of said Code (1968 Replacement Volume and 1968 Sup-
plement), title "Licenses," subtitle "Private Detectives," to follow
immediately after Section 90 thereof, respectively, authorizing
certain persons to carry concealed weapons, and providing that the
Superintendent of the Maryland State Police shall issue a Special
Permit to carry a concealed weapon to any person who meets
certain requirements.
