Their Maties agt Thomas Powell — } Constable of BogateeNorten ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The sd Thomas Powell was this day ordered into the sheriffs Custody for his Contempt & neglect viz) not obeying & fullfilling the late ordr of Governr & Counsel Concerning accot of hoggs & Catle to be taken wth list of tythables as also not going to the extent of his hundred as pr order of this Court. likewise he the sd Thomas refused of ye Worll Court that he might appear before the Courts betters to be heard (Saying in Contempt thereof that in Accamack used to be otherwise but now wee must dance after Maryland fidle. Still obstinately & audaciously refuseing to give any further accot of the List of Taxable prsons in his hundred or of any hoggs or Catle as afd which the Court told him he ought to have Complyed with at his peril but he replyed it should be at ye Courts peril further saying that when he rode at Cedar Neck he Saw the Constable of the whore kill there who had ye Kings broad Seal & Crowne of England & being askt if he knew ye broad Seal who replyed yes he knew it well enough. Ordered that the sd Thomas Powell be kept in Safe Custody & transmitted over to the next Provinciall Court to answer the prmisses before ye Governr & Counsel, & Ordered that the totall proceedings hereof be likewise Transmitted &ca. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Lynch of the County afd Admrx of all & ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Singular ye goods Chattels & Credits of Henry Lynch late of this County Mercht decd was attached To answer unto Wm Boyne of a plea of debt. And whereupon the sd William by Robert Pirrie his Attorney Saith that whereas Henry Lynch afd ye 15th day of April in ye year of our Lord 1689, at Snow hill within the Jurisdiction of this Court by a Certain Bill which the sd Wm. under the hand & Seal of the sd Henry bringeth here into Court the date whereof is the day & year afd did acknowledge himself to be bound to the sd Wm in the full & just Sum of Eight hundred eighty & five pounds of tobacco to be pd to the sd Wm upon ye 10th. day of October next ensueing ye date of the sd Bill Now the sd Henry being indebted as afd did upon himself faithfully promise & assume that the sd Sum of tobacco he would well & truly Content & pay when thereunto required Nevertheless the sd Sum of tob unto ye sd Wm ye sd Henry in his lifetime hath not paid nor hath any part or prcell thereof been paid Since his death unto the sd Wm by Eliz. Lynch Admrx of all & Singular the goods Chattels and Credits of the sd Henry but she hath hitherto refused & doth Still refuse although thereunto required to the damage of the sd Wm of 1764 lbs. of tobacco & thereupon he brings this Sute &ca. Jno Doe Pirrie pr Quer Plegs prsed &ca Rich Roe } This Bill bindeth me Henry Lynch of Pocomoke River in ye Province of Maryland Mercht. my Heirs Extors Admrs & Assigns to pay or Cause to be paid unto mr Wm. Boyne of the Same Planter ye just & full Sum of Eight hundred & eighty five pounds of tobacco at or upon ye 10th day of october next ensueing ye date hereof in Witness my hand & Seal this 15th day of Aprill 1689 Henry Lynch ❂ Being prsent Thomas Poynter.
