The sd Thomas Powell was this day ordered into the sheriffs Custody for his

Contempt & neglect viz) not obeying & fullfilling the late ord^r of Govern^r

& Counsel Concerning acco^t of hoggs & Catle to be taken w^th list of tythables

as also not going to the extent of his hundred as p^r order of this Court.

likewise he the sd Thomas refused of y^e Wor^ll Court that he might appear before

the Courts betters to be heard (Saying in Contempt thereof that in Accamack

used to be otherwise but now wee must dance after Maryland fidle.

Still obstinately & audaciously refuseing to give any further acco^t of the

List of Taxable p^rsons in his hundred or of any hoggs or Catle as afd

which the Court told him he ought to have Complyed with at his peril but

he replyed it should be at y^e Courts peril further saying that when he rode

at Cedar Neck he Saw the Constable of the whore kill there who had y^e Kings

broad Seal & Crowne of England & being askt if he knew y^e broad

Seal who replyed yes he knew it well enough. Ordered that

the sd Thomas Powell be kept in Safe Custody & transmitted over

to the next Provinciall Court to answer the p^rmisses before y^e Govern^r

& Counsel, & Ordered that the totall proceedings hereof be likewise

                                                         Lynch late of this County Merc^ht decd was attached

To answer unto Wm Boyne of a plea of debt. And whereupon the sd William

by Robert Pirrie his Attorney Saith that whereas Henry Lynch afd y^e 15^th day

of April in y^e year of our Lord 1689, at Snow hill within the Jurisdiction of this

Court by a Certain Bill which the sd Wm. under the hand & Seal of the sd Henry

bringeth here into Court the date whereof is the day & year afd did acknowledge

himself to be bound to the sd Wm in the full & just Sum of Eight hundred eighty

& five pounds of tobacco to be pd to the sd Wm upon y^e 10^th. day of October next ensueing

y^e date of the sd Bill Now the sd Henry being indebted as afd did upon himself

faithfully promise & assume that the sd Sum of tobacco he would well & truly Content

& pay when thereunto required Nevertheless the sd Sum of tob unto y^e sd Wm y^e sd Henry in

his lifetime hath not paid nor hath any part or p^rcell thereof been paid Since his

death unto the sd Wm by Eliz. Lynch Adm^rx of all & Singular the goods Chattels and

Credits of the sd Henry but she hath hitherto refused & doth Still refuse although

thereunto required to the damage of the sd Wm of 1764 lbs. of tobacco & thereupon

This Bill bindeth me Henry Lynch of Pocomoke River in y^e Province of Maryland

Mer^cht. my Heirs Extors Adm^rs & Assigns to pay or Cause to be paid unto m^r Wm.

Boyne of the Same Planter y^e just & full Sum of Eight hundred & eighty five

pounds of tobacco at or upon y^e 10^th day of october next ensueing y^e date hereof in Witness

my hand & Seal this 15^th day of Aprill 1689
